The arrival of the contraceptive pill has had a major effect on society as women gained control of their fertility enabling them to pursue education, careers and choose if and when to have a family. This has resulted in enormous social change as women entered the work force en masse.

Out of the 5 most popular changes Ireland has seen, as voted by you, a judging panel will select the one which has changed Ireland the most. If there is something we have missed, you have an opportunity to include your own nomination in the text box.

The 50 nominations in the above 5 categories have been collated by a judging panel. Once you cast your vote by choosing one nomination in each category the panel will choose an overall winner. Judges include Dr Nina Byrnes, GP; Norah Casey, Publisher, Harmonia; Krishna De, Social Media Expert; Tom Dunne, Newstalk; Diarmaid Ferriter, Professor of Modern Irish History UCD and Fintan O'Toole, Irish Times.

* The Bubblegum Club is an Irish registered charity whose mission is to provide extraordinary outings for extraordinary children, many of whom suffer from life threatening illness, long term debilitating illness or are disadvantaged in some other way.
